Step Up

“Step Up” is an affordable housing project in Miami’s Little Havana, a neighborhood rich in Cuban culture that the design both respects and celebrates through a blend of Cuban modernistic housing forms, from townhouses to high-rise mixed-use apartments. Unlike traditional townhouses on typical 50x100-foot Miami blocks, this proposal increases density sixfold while incorporating live-work units and shared courtyards to foster community interaction. By encouraging entrepreneurs and young professionals to settle in the area and contribute to the thriving local economy, the project achieves its greatest success in delivering vibrant, high-density living complemented by enjoyable communal spaces and strong urbanism.
